Welcome to the Collar & Lead Dog Obedience Training Page A well trained dog is a constant joy and a faithful companion for life This Homepage is an ever evolving training manual for obtaining the ultimate dog title of Obedience Champion. The Homepage focuses on the Australian scene but the methods and techniques described are universally relevant. The contemporary methods used to train the obedient dog are based on operant conditioning. Basic dog training is often repetitious so, for the sake of continuity, I have endeavoured to achieve a balance between endless links and constant repetition. The training pages are presented in accordance with my recommended lesson plan for club instructors. The training methods described are those used by champion triallers, they also originate from hundreds of books, manuals, magazines, videos, courses for obedience instructors, presentations, through surfing the net on the subject and from hard won lessons and success in the trial ring. No one person owns this knowledge, it has been developed and refined over hundreds of years by dog fanciers from all over the world. I gladly and freely share my knowledge and experience with you in the interest of promoting the sport of dog obedience trialling and responsible dog ownership. E- mail suggestions and corrections at [email protected] are most welcome. All additional information is welcome on the proviso that it may be included in these pages without acknowledgment of the author. I have instructed obedience classes at the highest level and given training presentations at many of the Dog Obedience Clubs in the ACT and NSW. I hosted the Microsoft Network's (MSN) Dog Training, Trialling and Behaviour Forum in 1996-7. I presently have two working Border Collies under training, ie Rough OC, ET and Ready OC, ET.
